Rude Elf's Reserve 2009The holiday season is official here and what better way to celebrate than with our awarding winning seasonal ale. Rude Elf is fresh off a Bronze Medal win at The Great American Beer Festival and ready for your consumption.

Rude Elf’s Reserve is comes in at a whopping 10.5% ABV and is brewed with a special blend of spices and a unique selection of Belgian yeasts to create a warm and inviting holiday brew. Belgian brews are typical served in a special unique glass and the Brew Works has just the right one to enjoy this wonderful elixir in. Our 13oz Tulip glass will allow you to experience the wonderful aromatics and the beautiful reddish hue.

Due to the alcohol content we will only be serving Rude Elf in our 12oz Goblet but you will still get mug club pricing. Free mug club Goblets are available from 11-03-09 until 11-09-09 or until our next new brew is tapped.

Tickle Me Tuesdays in November

TICKLE ME TUESDAYS IN NOVEMBER:
INCLUDING EASTON’S OWN ALEX HOUSE!

Allentown, PA—Tickle Me Tuesdays, the Lehigh Valley’s only stand-up comedy showcase regularly featuring local talent alongside professional comics from New York & Philadelphia, will be held on the 10th and 17th of November in the Allentown Brew Works’ High Gravity Lounge. Each show features 5-6 amateur & semi-professional comics from the Lehigh Valley and beyond, and each show ends with a professional headliner.

The following is the headliner information for November:

November 10th headliner – Alex House. Based in Easton, Alex is a two time winner in the Bud Light’s Ladies Of Laughter Comedy Contest, has participated in the Toyota Comedy Festival, Boston Comedy Festival and the Arizona Women’s Funny Fest. She has also been on ABC’s “The View” twice in the course of two weeks and was one of the East Coast Semi-finalists chosen out of thousands of comics on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing”. When she’s not performing comedy, she studies acting with coach JoAnna Beckson, whose past students include Ray Romano, Dave Chappelle and Brett Butler.

November 17th headliner – Kenny Michaels. One of the hosts of the Conte & Kenny radio show, broadcast on CringeHumorRadio.com every Monday night, Kenny Michaels has been making his way through the New Jersey comedy scene in the past few years. Now often a headliner at clubs and colleges up and down the East Coast, Kenny has also opened for Otto & George.

Both of these shows are at 8pm on their respective dates, with doors opening at 7pm. Tickle Me Tuesdays are hosted and produced by Bethlehem-based professional comedian Ryan Hill; Breinigsville-based comic Randy Tonge will be the guest-host for the November 10th show.

Tickle Me Tuesdays are normally the first and third Tuesday of every month; November’s shows were changed due to Election Day. The Allentown Brew Works is located at 812 W. Hamilton Street in Allentown. Advance tickets are not available, but reservations can be made by calling the Brew Works at 610.433.7777. Free parking is available on all surrounding streets, including Hamilton, 8th and 9th, anytime after 6pm. There is also a free parking lot available off of 8th Street between Hamilton and Linden Streets; the entrance to the Brew Works is less than 50 yards from that lot.

Nutso Brown Ale released in Allentown

As the leaves blow merrily from the trees to the ground,Nutso Brown Grinch
Something special is pouring right here in downtown,

That even a Grinch would love Beau’s new Nutso Brown.
So come in and imbibe a snif-snofterly taste,

On Hamilton Street with the new Nutso Brown.

That’s right! we are rolling out the barrel once again with our newest release: Nutso Brown Ale.  Nutso is 4.8% ABV with a deep mahogany color.  This brew has a nutty, chocolate and caramel flavor that comes from specially selected roasted malts and finishes with a floral english hop aroma. Available at the Allentown Brew Works.

Come raise a toast! Come one and come all!

Classic American Style Ale made famous or some may say infamous by a large regional brewery from New York in the seventies. Cream Ales are light, Crisp and refreshing and Cold rolling Cream Ale is no exception. Cold Rolling is 4.7% ABV and a straw color and smooth taste.

Each show features 5-6 amateur & semi-professional comics from the Lehigh Valley and beyond, and each show ends with a professional headliner.

The following is the headliner information for December:

steve_balbierDecember 1st headliner – Steve Balbier. This up-and-coming young comedian from Philadelphia has made a name for himself on the Philly scene with his unique, dry style. A teacher by day and a comic by night, Steve lets audiences know what smart teachers are really thinking when they’re dealing with dumb kids. Steve has performed throughout the greater Philly area and beyond, sometimes showing up on the popular ‘Ministry of Secret Jokes’ show among many other shows where the cool people hang out.

L DeFelice HeadshotDecember 15th headliner – Larry DeFelice. Larry’s clean, high-energy act has been enjoyed by hundreds of audiences in venues ranging from traditional comedy clubs to church basements to banquet halls. He has been heard on Sirius/XM Satellite Radio (“New Rascals Comedy Hour” & “The Wiseguy Show”) and has been seen in a national television commercial for Circuit City Electronic Stores, as well as sketch work on NBC’s Late Night with Conan O’Brien show. Impressions of TV and movie characters fill his act, which is also peppered with his life experiences of being “on the cusp”. (Larry’s height of 4’10″ puts him “on the cusp” between “The Normals” and “The Little People”) Think, “The Sopranos meets Fantasy Island”!

Both of these shows are at 8pm on their respective dates, with doors opening at 7pm. Tickle Me Tuesdays are hosted and produced by Bethlehem-based professional comedian Ryan Hill; Fountain Hill-based comic Kate Hayes will be the guest-host for the December 1st show.

“Black Friday” Bourbon Barrel Aged Scotch Ale released Black Friday

Our Bourbon Barrel Aged Scotch Ale “Black Friday” is now available at the Bethlehem Brew Works. Aged for several weeks in Kentucky Bourbon Barrels, this strong deep red colored ale has a deep malt flavor with hints of bourbon, oak, vanilla and caramel. Black Friday comes in at a big 8.5% ABV.  Due to the high ABV this brew will be served in our 12oz Scotch Ale glass.

P.S.  Rauchbock (Smoked Lager) is due out December 6th.

Richter’s West End Red released in Allentown with 70 IBUs

Richter’s West End Red is our new release and it is deep red in color with a sweet malt flavor and a fragrant hop aroma of pine and grapefruit.  West End Red weighs in at 5.7%abv with 70 IBU’s of bitterness.

What’s an IBU?
International Bittering Unit

A scale used to measure the bitterness of a beer.  an IBU is one part per million of Isohumulone, an acid derived from the hop.  The higher the IBU number the bigger the bite at the back of the tongue.

Examples:

American Pilseners (bud, miller, coors) 12-15 IBU’s
Pale Ale (ABW Copper Kettle, Sierra nevada) 30-50 IBU’s
IPA (ABW Hop Explosion, Russian River, Weyerbacher) 50-120 IBU’s
Porter ( ABW Pawn Shop Porter, Deschutes, Anchor) 25-40 IBU’s
