March 11, 2010: Food and Farming in the Lehigh Valley
Presented by the Penn State Lehigh and Northampton County Extension
At the Allentown Brew Works, 812 Hamilton Street
What is more central to civilization than a safe, secure source of food? Most people in the Lehigh Valley enjoy access to abundant and nutritious food. Many do not.
By its very nature, agriculture is location-specific and it is this specificity of crops, soils and animals that has led to the great diversity and richness in agriculture that we see today.
A collection of farm and food experts will share perspectives on the current condition of local agriculture and their vision for the future of farming in the Lehigh Valley. The challenge is to find the balance between the pressures of increasing demand on our land for food production and development.
Please join us for this day-long conference focusing on Lehigh Valley agriculture for producers, farmers, agri-business representatives, local officials, consumers, community advocates and anyone interested in the “growing” future of our region.
Registration Deadline is March 4, 2010
