Allentown Brew Works
In honor of Lehigh Valley Beer Week, we’ll be hosting a special Frikin’ Friday Charity Cask night.
The beer of the evening is going to be:
Kellerbier
Kellerbier is an unfiltered Pilsner with a strong flavor and very aromatic hops. Usually, it is a medium to light bodied beer with a malty sweetness made apparent in the flavor and aroma. This a very nice, well rounded brew.
Our charity for the evening is:
PBS
From their website:
PBS39 is a community-owned public television station licensed to Allentown, Bethlehem, and Easton, PA, serving eastern Pennsylvania and western New Jersey. PBS39 is owned and operated by the Lehigh Valley Public Telecommunications Corporation.
We’re happy to welcome PBS, and we encourage everyone to come out and support this local initiative for educational and informative public television. We also hope everyone has a great Lehigh Valley Beer Week. Make sure to check all our events for that week, and check out all the LVBW happenings on their website.
Charity Cask Nights
Since June of 2006, once a month, the entire proceeds of a Fegley’s Brew Works firkin has been donated to a local non-profit organization. Better still, the non-profit recipient has the opportunity to present literature and banners, and have representatives on hand for an informal Q&A and info-session about their community work. This tradition, which continues in Bethlehem, will now be replicated in Allentown Brew Works!
A craft brewery draws its character and strength from its community, but it can also give back to the community and help create positive change. That’s the idea behind this series of benefit events that take place at the Allentown Brew Works every 1st Thursday of the month.
WHAT is a firkin ale?
A firkin is a small keg, holds about 9 gallons or so of cask-conditioned, 50°F beer. Our head brewer offers a hand pumped, cask-conditioned ale from a 10-gallon barrel called a firkin. The cask is always a special, one-of-a-kind beer connoisseur’s treat. It is available only until it runs dry, which could be just hours (or less) after it’s tapped.
WHY a firkin ale?
If you love beer then this is your chance to experience drinking a real ale!
Open up your senses to the hop and malt flavors released by drinking a beer from a hand-drawn firkin served at a respectable temperature.
Our brewers then work their magic to give each cask its own special character.
