This Friday from 4pm-7pm, Fegley’s Brew Works will host a tasting of their beers at the Warrington Wegmans in the Valley Square shopping center. It is a homecoming for the Fegley family, as these are hometown folks straight out of central Bucks county. Peg and Dick Fegley raised their family of four boys just off Bristol road in what was then the new Fox Hollow Woods development that was cleared from among farmers’ fields and wooded acres. Though things have changed greatly over the years, there has been one constant – the family always worked together to make things happen: they worked together as teammates for 17 years on the Warrington Dragons Swim team, at the dawn of home computing in the early 1980s they opened one of the first 50 stores in the United States (“Software -N- Stuff”) at the Warrington Mews with the boys helping out, and after high school and college they went into business together formally as partners to open a Brewpub restaurant.
“We were so close to opening our Brewpub in Doylestown, but the opportunity to be the anchor store at the corner of Main and Broad in Historic Bethlehem was too good to pass up,” says Rich Fegley, the oldest of the boys, and the one who put together the successful business plan that has served the family for over a dozen years. “We hit the ground running, and have worked together to keep improving an growing. Now we get the chance to finally see our beers in Warrington!” The family has branched out with two additional locations in Allentown, and has begun packaging their award winning beers in kegs and bottles. The craft beers from Fegley’s Brew Works are distributed throughout the greater Philadelphia and Lehigh Valley markets, and the company has made headway east into New Jersey and west towards Harrisburg.
“Dave would get a big kick out of this,” says Jeff Fegley, the baby brother who now is the company’s President. David Fegley, one of the founders, passed away in his sleep at age 33 three years ago. “I’m sure he’s smiling about the thought of all this. We’ve been working so hard for years to succeed and grow, and moments like this really mean a lot to all of us.” He added, “We’ve won gold medals at the Great American Beer Festival and medals at the World Beer Cup, and I’m proud to say that I still have a swim team record at the Warrington Swim Club!”
