16th Anniversary Ale to be Released

April 2nd, 2014 | , , ,

Fegley’s Brewing in the Lehigh Valley is About to Turn 16!

On April 15, 2014 at the Bethlehem Brew Works, Fegley’s Brew Works will be celebrating its 16th Anniversary with the debut of a limited edition beer, 16th Anniversary Ale.

The Anniversary Ale, brewed by Bethlehem Brew Works’ Head Brewer Josh Bushey, is a dark, ruby wheatwine with hints of toffee and caramel maltiness from 2-row barley and white-wheat malts. Josh replaced some of the barley malt with wheat to mellow this huge beer and added just enough bittering hops to balance the sweetness. A plethora of Chinook, Cascade, and Columbus hops round out this Anniversary brew giving it a earthy and citrus-like aroma.

The limited edition 16th Anniversary Ale will be available in 750ml corked and caged bottles and on draft at the Bethlehem Brew Works.

Brewer Josh tucked away a limited amount of this commemorative wheatwine in red wine barrels to age. Josh commented, “the wheatwine will pick up some tartness and acidity from naturally occurring bacteria in the barrels”. A portion of the Anniversary wheatwine were also put into bourbon barrels for aging. The release of these limited reserves is to be determined.

Fegley’s Brew Works opened the doors of the Bethlehem Brew Works on April 15th, 1998.
