Lehigh Valley Beer Week Presents ‘Be Our Brewer For A Day’ Competition and Festival

Allentown,  PA – Lehigh Valley Beer Week is hosting their 4th “Be Our Brewer For A Day” Homebrew Competition and Craft Beer Festival at Fegley’s Allentown Brew Works on Sunday, October 4, 2015 from 2pm to 5pm.

Attendees of the festival become the judges, sampling the home brewed beers and voting for their favorite brew. The homebrewer with the winning libation becomes the ‘Brewer for a Day’, brewing the official beer of Lehigh Valley Beer Week 2016 alongside Fegley’s Brew Works Brewmaster Beau Baden. The winning beer will be named “LVBW4” and available on draft at participating Lehigh Valley Beer Week restaurants, distributors, and pubs February 20th to February 27th, 2016.

Over two dozen homebrewers with more than 45 brews will be competing at this year’s festival. Homebrew submissions include a vast array of recipes from the traditional to experimental “scratch” styles. Attendees will enjoy pilsners, stouts, IPAs, a “Hopped Blood Orange Hefeweizen” and a “Granny Crannies Wheat” among others.

In addition to home brewed beers to sample, there will not be a shortage of craft beers on hand with selections from Easton’s Two Rivers Brewing Company, Allentown Beverage, Keystone Homebrew, Shangy’s and Fegley’s Brew Works. Munchies and beer-centric wares will be provided by Beer Busters, Allentown Brew Works and Wegman’s Pub.

This festival is the mid-year kickoff and fundraiser for Lehigh Valley Beer Week, a not-for-profit organization run by a board of members consisting of restaurateurs, local business owners and craft beer enthusiasts.

In August 2014, Homebrewer Jim Yergey was the festival champion with an Imperial IPA “Hoptileitious”. Nearly 300 attended the 2014 festival and voted. Yergey brewed the winning ale alongside Fegley’s brewery staff in January 2015. Renamed LVBW3, the brew had solid distribution and was well received by many craft beer enthusiasts around the Lehigh Valley.

During Lehigh Valley Beer Week, craft beer lovers enjoy a variety of unexpected, original, and unique craft-beer-centric events. Events including tap takeovers, beer dinners, meet the brewer nights, and countless others.
