Senator Bob Casey Visits Fegley's Brew Works

July 22nd, 2013 |

On Monday July 15th, Senator Bob Casey stopped by the Allentown Brew Works to discuss his support of the Small BREW Act. Standing outside the Allentown Brew Works, Senator Casey explained what exactly the Act is and how it would affect craft breweries such as Fegley’s.

The Act would reduce the tax cost per barrel of beer produced by small craft breweries. By doing this, the Act would allow small breweries to create more jobs and stimulate the economy in a way that would eventually make up the lost tax revenue this Act plans to eliminate.

Senator Casey supports this legislation and looked at Fegley’s Brew Works as an example of a small craft brewery that would be eligible for such a revenue increase caused by this legislation. By the Act’s definition, a small brewery is any which produces less than 6 million barrels per year.

The Fegley’s were happy to host Senator Casey and are in support of such legislation. The reduced cost would allow Fegley’s to possibly hire an additional brewer which would increase production and promote job growth in the industry.
