TWO new releases at Bethlehem Brew Works

October 16th, 2014 | , ,

Check out the two newest releases at Fegley’s Bethlehem Brew Works by head brewer Josh Bushey:

Releasing Cold Rollin’ Cream Ale – 1.042 OG, 10 IBUS, 4.7% ABV – Classic American Style Ale made famous or some may say infamous by a large regional brewery from New York in the seventies. Straw color and smooth taste – cream ales are light, crisp and refreshing and Cold Rollin’ Cream Ale is no exception.
Off The Rails Rye IPA – 1.076 OG, 100 IBUS, 7.8% ABV – “Brewers’ Choice Winner” at the Lehigh Valley Beer Week’s Brewer for a Day Festival. Matt King concocted an IPA with a healthy amount of rye malt added to the mash. Brewed with Citra, Simcoe, and the extremely limited Mosaic hops. Dry hopped for extra hoppiness. Spicy and citrusy.

“New to this year’s “Be Our Brewer for a Day” Festival was the addition of a second place “Brewer’s Choice” Award. The brewery staff from Fegley’s Brew Works got in on the action and chose their favorite brew. Matt King took home the honors with his rye IPA called “Off the Rails”. Matt’s brew came in at just over 8% ABV, 1.075 OG  and just around 75 IBUs. “It is a pretty standard IPA base but I add about 17% rye to the grain bill to give it a little bit of spicy character and a thicker mouthfeel. I use very fruity/citrusy hops (Mosaic primarily with some Citra in the dry hop) to play off the spicy rye and I think they balance out nicely.” said Matt King.

Matt is a member of the Keystone Hops Homebrew Club out of Montgomeryville and has been homebrewing for about 4 1/2 years. He’ll be brewing his “Off the Rails” Rye IPA in the near future alongside the brewery staff at Fegley’s Bethlehem Brew Works. It will be available on draft exclusively at the Bethlehem Brew Works.” More from Lehigh Valley Beer Week
