Wind and Solar
When we opened the Allentown Brew Works, we installed a 42-kilowatt solar array on the roof. This helped offset our energy costs and was one of our first steps in making our locations 100% green energy.
As time passed, we realized that we needed to up the ante. The solar array was great, but we wanted to go in all the way. In order to do this, we teamed up with Renewable Choice Energy. Through them, we are able to purchase 2,080,640 kilowatt hours (kWh) of renewable energy credits (RECs) from wind farms across America.
And just like that, we are now 100% green energy. We did it and we’re proud of it.
While striving to become 100% green energy, we also wanted to reduce how much energy we used. That’s why we switched to LED lighting. We aren’t going to put on our lab coats and start rambling about the differences between ‘traditional’ lighting and LED. What we will say is that by switching to LED, more of the energy sent to the bulb is used as light energy and not lost as heat energy. This makes sure our LED lighting is much more efficient than a ‘traditional’ setup.
With the installation of over 450 LED lighting fixtures, we offer one of the largest implementations in the industry worldwide.
